Yener Turkish Food Market

Yener has been selling Turkish and European groceries in Toms River since 2007. Turkish bread trucked down from the bakery in Paterson, frozen Black Sea anchovies, imported olive oils, the Ülker and Pınar brands people grew up with. The problem was that none of it was findable. Someone new to the area searching for Turkish groceries in Ocean County had no way to learn the store existed, let alone what was on the shelves this week.

The Solution

An Astro build with Tailwind CSS, served as static files from Cloudflare Workers. The site is organised the way people actually shop: departments, products and brands, weekly specials, and a location page carrying the hours and the map. The header shows whether the store is open right now, which is the single question most visitors arrive with.

The photography is the store, not a stock library. We pulled the real interior shots and matched each one to the section it belongs to, so the dairy case on the products page is the dairy case you will walk past.

For search we published GroceryStore structured data with the address, phone and hours, added BreadcrumbList markup on the product pages, and rebuilt the page titles and headings around what people type: Turkish food market, Toms River, NJ. One bug got fixed along the way that mattered more than any of it. The mobile menu had been written with Alpine.js directives on a site that never loaded Alpine, so on a phone the navigation did nothing at all. Rewritten in plain JavaScript, it works.

Results

• Desktop Lighthouse performance of 99, with a 0.8 second largest contentful paint and no measurable layout shift
• GroceryStore and BreadcrumbList schema so the store’s name, address, phone and hours reach Google as data
• Departments, brands and weekly specials all crawlable, giving the store real surface area for long-tail local search
• Mobile navigation fixed; before the rebuild the menu was inert on phones
• Real store photography throughout, replacing the placeholder imagery
